Suns and Pelicans Swap Stars Before the Deadline
This trade could have huge playoff implications moving forward
The Pelicans and Grizzlies completed a trade this morning that sent Jimmy Butler, Salah Mejri, and Bobby Portis to Memphis in return for Devin Booker, Yogi Ferrell, and Derrick Favors. This trade could have huge playoff implications moving forward. Booker has taken a huge leap forward this year and has shown he can do much more than just score the rock, he's post all around numbers and looks like a stud moving forward. Despite this, Butler has been the better player all year. Butler, who started off slow has taken control of this Twolves team and has been a beast all year. It really is tough to say who is more valuable moving forward. What this trade really comes down to is the secondary pieces. Favors has had a really weird year, he's shown flashes, but with Gobert back he really takes a back seat in Utah. If he were to be moved it would be interesting to see if he could be back around 30 Fps a game again. Ferrell is another really good role player for an already deep Pelicans squad. The Grizzlies pick up Bobby Portis. Portis has shown the ability to be a per minute machine. Mirotic should be on his way out, opening up more minutes for Bobby. Either way Laurri is the teams starting PF moving forward, but Bobby has shown more than enough to indicate he is capable of being more than a role player. It's exciting times in the BBall Dynasty moving forward, the playoffs are on the horizon. We'll have more on these trades as they continue to come out.
