Pacers send -
Russell Westbrook, OKC 31.62 31.62 31.62 31.62 31.62 UFA Tim Hardaway, ATL 2 2 2 UFA Kelly Oubre, WAS 2.09 3.21 RFA 2018 2nd round pick
Pelicans send - Dennis Smith Jr., DAL Andre Drummond, DET 23.78 25.43 27.09 UFA - Player O JJ Barea, DAL 3.9 3.71 UFA
Pacers accept. Hate trading Russ but I love D Smith and the cap helps me.

I don't think losing Westbrook is worth cutting cap, but DSJ will push for 30 FPG as a rookie and is a much better long term value. Drummond regressed last year but is still a young player. I think losing Oubre and Hardaway really hurts as they're both players on the rise. Nice work, Pels. The west gets tougher and tougher

Approve.
Still expect the typical Pelicans rapes replies! But the fact that time after time teams pay these prices for these rookies makes these guys valuable whether you like it or not. I also think that if you have a contract of 25+ mill and wont be competing for a title in next 3 years, this type of deal is the deal you gotta do. DSJ blows up or even becomes a good player the Pacers are well positioned in 2-3 years. Good stuff guys.

Westy at $31M>>>>>Drummond at $24M, or $27M if you're looking towards the future like wars does
Still think Hardaway sucks, but he'll get plenty of minutes in NY, which means he'll put up points, and Oubre is a nice piece, solid underrated player who's on the rise as mavs mentioned; together these two are worth more than Smith imo, even if you're high on him as everyone here seems to be, at the least it doesn't make up for the difference between westy and Drummond
Second rounder and barea are about equal value, which is to say not much
Another trade where i don't get how the cap argument applies, there's not a huge difference in total amount of cap spent/saved
All that said, yeah i think pels does quite well here, but it's not "rape"... pass
