Mavs Trade: John Collins 17.27 Pick 41
Hawks Trade: Pick 18 Thomas Bryant 2.75
Mavs accept, JC is great and balled out for me but I need to open cap to keep Onyeka. There are some guys I like in the 18 range and also could trade out of this for production.

Accept, weak class and Collins is still surprisingly young. Worst case a flip at the deadline to a contender. Good dealing Kyle!

Yeah I’m sorry but I hate this for Trey. Keep pick 18 and draft brother. JC on 18M contract is no bueno.
I really want to veto this but it’s not bad enough for a veto so I will approve. Bailed out Kyle big time.

Approve. What does this do for Trey? makes no sense to take on a 18m deal and forgo a shot at a rookie with him timeline. I could see John Collins role decreasing big time next year as well. Nice flexibility for Mavs now shedding so much money and getting a pick.

Pass
I get Trey's thinking but this essentially locks in the $12.5M he has to cover cap this year plus he's giving up a 1st. JC paid will probably get him a similar future pick - sure the draft classes are better in theory but why not just trade #18 for a future late 1st in that case without dealing with the headaches of JC's contract?
Smart and opportunistic trading by Kyle per usual.
