Alright boys
We have some business to attend to. I'm sure most of you know, but if you've been busy/ not in chat I'll fill you in. As most of you know the deadline to re-sign a player was the end of the NBA finals. Drew (Timberwolves) did not end up re-signing Julius Randle. Obviously the first question that popped into most people's mind's was will he be given an exception? My initial thought/ruling was no given the amount of time we had to get this done. I didn't think it was fair to the owners who got it done. On top of that our teams are generally a reflection of our attentiveness to them and the league, and why should he be bailed out when he wasn't engaged enough to realize we were in our re-sign period?
BUT, after some time I realized, that is a pretty fucking massive punishment no matter the gaff. I mean that's a 37 point a game guy gone out of thin air for one mistake. Drew explained he generally checks the "league news" portion of the discord and to his point it was never posted in there. I'm not saying that necessarily excuses him but to me it does help explain the mistake.
Anyways my proposal is this this. We allow him to re-sign Julius but at a .65 rate instead of the normal .6. A late fee of sorts. I don’t think it’s fair for me to be the sole decision maker on this since it’s not black and white and very much effects the other owners, so it's up to you boys. Drew has shown a ton of remorse, and had this to say about the situation.
"I know it is tricky and unfair to those who are active and attentive in the league and I know I need to be more, including the offseason. I very much appreciate you wanting to put a poll out there to let everyone decide on and whatever happens, I am completely supportive of because I did fuck up. So whatever is decided, I am good with. Although definitely one option I would like more than the others. It won’t happen again and thanks for the thoughtfulness for my dummy mistake."
Your call boys, I personally vote yes. We all have made mistakes in our lives before, and to me a 5% increase in the price is suffice as a punishment. But obviously you are free to decide for yourself.
Unlike in the other poll, the decision will just come down to whatever side has more votes. Deadline is next Tuesday. You are free to comment on this post, but ultimately the only thing that will be tallied will be the vote at the top of this thread, so make sure you actually vote if you want your opinion to matter.
Thanks boys.
