The Miami Heat Trade: Pick 14
The Golden State Warriors Trade: Demar Derozan 20.04(Paid 10.5M) 20.04(Paid 2M) 20.04 20.04 Max Strus 0.25 0.25
I had 11M for 2 spots, don't think I could have done better in terms of overall points than this even if Strus fails.

Warriors accept.
I understand it’s not the best value points wise but I’ve got some draft fever and a couple prospects in this range I’m really excited about.

Approve. Love that for Heat. Getting Damar paid that much is super nice and he’ll definitely contribute towards winning next year a fck ton. Could work out for Cay if he hits but not sure I like his chances for what he gave up. I probably would’ve held if I was Warrs for better value.

Approve. I think this is a big win for heat. Demar was 33 last year and with Heat trying to compete that’s a ton of fp for a mid first. Strus on top of all that is just overkill. I think it’s too much production for a shot in the dark at 14.

Pass but barely TBH, only time I've wavered on vetoing recently aside from that trash mikal trade (which looks even worse once this passes). I've never understood why people get SO caught up with draft fever, I get why it happens but not to the extent that normally smarter managers suddenly are willing to lose a trade, sometimes pretty badly, to take a long shot on some dude who hasn't proven anything yet... There are really only a handful of guys with a lock to produce in any given draft, and the chances of getting one at 14 are not great. Do you not remember doing this, and not even as badly if memory serves, for Kevin fucking Knox, wars? Really think you could've gotten a lot better for DeMar, no idea how he talked you into adding Strus, not particularly high on the kid but others are and not necessary to be included at all here
Nice job heat, fuckin hate that guy but gotta tip the hat when he does something like this

Approve.
2022: Jake Laravia 2021: Usman Garuba 2020: Immanuel Quickley 2019: Nickeil Alexander-Walker 2018: Shai Gilgeous-Alexander 2017: Jarrett Allen
For being a late lottery draft slot, pick 14 has been relatively successful in our league in recent years for whatever reason. Probably luck. Caleb better hope his draft crush falls to 14, because on the surface this is pretty rough. Strus has absolutely no business being in this trade after Warriors are already covering so much cap.
Good on Sanjul for making it happen and vaulting himself into pole position in the Vegas off-season title odds.

Insane deal. Caleb had no reason to move off DeRozan this quickly. To make this move without knowing who will be available at that pick in here and how the board falls irl is wacky. IMO, Caleb has also clearly picked a direction now. He is rebuilding and is firmly out of the title race. Maybe he could've tried somewhat this year and the next few years since he doesn't have his picks? Get in the draft war room boy you gonna need a smash pick lol
Approve.

Approve.
Read my comment on the Jrue trade about old dude value tipping points. Same thing applies here. With that said this feels light. Kristaps set a bad precedent here on the price to move up, but this range in the draft is a total crap shoot. Tacking on Strus feels like overkill. Caleb could totally nail this pick but that doesn’t change the fact that the value doesn’t line up here. I find it hard to believe Sanjul would’ve stared at a board of Judah Mintz, Jett Howard, etc at 14 when on the clock and done this without Strus or maybe even sent more given his timeline. Whatever. Go nail the pick Caleb.
Sidenote this feels like the Khris trade last year but in that deal the extra pieces would’ve been headed in Caleb’s direction not the other way around.
