Bulls trade: Jonathan Kuminga $5,739,840 - $6,012,840 - $7,636,307 (TO) - RFA Jeremy Sochan $5,063,520 - $5,316,960 - $5,570,040 (TO) - $7,096,231 (TO) - RFA 2023 PHI 1st round pick 2024 UTA 1st round pick 2024 BKN 1st round pick
Spurs accept
For the record, Chimezie just a throw-in cuz I would've had to drop someone, and it would've been him. Love him, especially on a minimum contract, but he just ain't playing at all, and I don't see that changing anytime soon.
Well goddammit. Didn't think I would trade him, really didn't and still don't want to, but some offers just can't be refused. Even if you do refuse them a couple times and drag your feet and whine about it. I obviously am taking a pretty big risk here, think Mobley is as close to a guaranteed perennial stud as anyone can get, but there simply isn't any one player who's worth five 1st round picks, and what I've seen of Kuminga and Sochan has me stoked on upside for both of them. This sets me back on my rebuild timeline, which fuckin sucks, but I am in love with next year's draft class (not just Victor and Scoot, either, like I keep telling folks) and I do own my own pick as well, so... let's fully embrace some more tanking, I guess. Thanks for pleasant talks as always, Chuckster, you persuasive SOB.

I Accept.
All about making 1 or 2 big consolidation trades when you have enough assets. We remain big fans of Kuminga and Sochan, but it's about time I grab a piece that I can finally build around. Welcome Mobley.

Approve. Jesus what a Friday morning banger.
I like this for Chuck more since he’s getting the clear proven talent on an amazing contract with true 35-40 a game upside long term. I do feel like Spurs is getting a lot of value here for one person though and at least 2 of 3 firsts should be very solid if not straight lottos. But damn I would’ve at least acquired one proven guy in a Mobley deal.

Approve, this is a cool deal for both teams. One side gets the guarantee of a strong player, probably top 3 on most teams talent. The other side gets some fun darts in two drafts, and Kuminga is still a breakout candidate if given the opportunity. Sochan may be more an end of the bench player but it's going to fit the Spurs timeline nicely. Congrats both I think this is a fair deal.

Hate giving up someone like Evan for a bunch of maybes, but it was a true godfather offer

Approve.
Don't have too much to add that hasn't already been said. I'm high on Kuminga and Sochan long term, both could be top 5 guys on a winning team in here. My only question would be why push back the rebuild process a couple of years in hopes of finding a player as enticing as Mobley is when you already have him in house?
There's a myriad of ways that this turns out terribly for Spurs, & I would side with the established dynasty stud, but this is a ton of value he gets back at least.

I love this deal. I think the is the price you have to pay if you want to acquire someone like Mobley.
Sohcan and Kuminga both have a ton of potential. And then you still have 3 more firsts coming to the bank too! It’s just a ton to cook with and I think this gives Chris a ton of flexibility moving forward. I’m sure chucks not tripping either as he has his franchise guy.

Approve. Don't like this for anyone though.
Mobs, wcj, and rj with depth is good enough to compete for a playoff spot which means bulls picks won't be good. He has no other assets really. I think this is speeding up a rebuild that could've used another year.
Spurs is opposite. He had already accumulated a lot of good assets, including his and jazz first this year. You need to start adding guys like Mobley, not more question marks.
But both guys seem happy so hey I'm all for it.
