Blazers Receive: Nikola Vucevic (19.74m, UFA) '22: 23.31% of $25.74m covered by Utah Jazz
Jazz Receive: Nic Claxton (11.52, 11.52, 11.52, 11.52, 11.52, UFA) Coby White (7.41, RFA) Portland Trail Blazers 2023 1st Round Pick
Accept.
This is a consolidation play that gives me a crack at deep playoff run in Jokic's first year in Portland. Vucevic comes with long-term concerns, but man he's consistent--top 15 scorer in our league for 4 consecutive seasons--I think he's got a few more in him. I needed to clear off Coby White's impending re-sign for Vuc's re-sign next off-season, so that's a net positive.
Clax has an amazing and translatable skillset for our scoring, but he has a murky future without knowing what team he'll play for IRL next season. Ultimately, I didn't have to give up my most prized asset (Sacramento Kings 2023 1st) and got an instant legit contributor. I'm happy widdit.
Nice dealing & happy rebuild Teej.

Pass, like it for blazers, too risky for jazz imo but it makes sense; gotta gamble on upside in exchange for solid vets with limited ceiling/life when you're looking to rebuild. Could really pay off if Claxton lands somewhere he gets solid minutes and that pick turns into a producer. White can play, don't think he'll ever be a big scorer in here but he's a worthwhile asset as it is and does still carry upside

Approve!
Fun deal and one I think can work out well for both parties. I’m def a little concerned about the long term outlook of Vooch but end of the day if he’s playing (and he should be for a bit) he’s a borderline elite producer. I get TJ gambling with some young talent. We’ve seen every player develops at their own rate and Coby and Clax are both talented in their own way. First doesn’t hurt either. Tyler legit looking more like a potential 3-5 seed as opposed to the 7-8 seed he might have been a month ago. TJ also retooling and I’m here for it. Nice deal guys.

Approve.
Not sure I love it for TJ, he's dealing a 35+ fppg player for the next 3 years at least and not receiving 1 sure thing in return. Of course, White or Claxton could develop and TJ could come out of this decently. Pick is nice too.

Approve. Like it for Blazers short term as they get a sure thing 35 a game guy. If Clax signs somewhere nice and gets a big role this could work out for the Jazz tho. I could see Vooch falling off in the near future too and I don’t know how much worth he’ll be of the money he’s going to receive after next season.
