Grizzlies receive:
Justin Holiday, IND - $3.5M (2023) Robert Covington, POR - $9.98M (2022)
Kings receive:
Serge Ibaka, LAC - $12.34M (2023) Sharife Cooper, ATL - $1.5M (2025) 2022 HOU 2nd* 2022 ORL 2nd
*if one of Holiday/Covington average 30 FPG OR both average 20 FPG from the time this trade processes to the end of the Grizzlies season in Bball26, 2022 HOU 2nd will be swapped with the worst (latest) 1st round pick from Memphis (2022 GSW / 2022 MEM 1st)
Grizzlies drop Marquese Chriss
Grizzlies accept. Getting some reinforcements for the playoffs and happy to help Bagel continue the rebuild in Sacramento.
Will miss Cooper, but have the ability to restock the cabinet with talent this upcoming draft.

This trade allows Sacramento to get another asset, this time for Covington. Cooper is also cost controlled for 3 more seasons and I value him like an early second round pick. I get a likely second round pick for Covington, a late second, and then cooper. Gotta keep going upside hunting and decouping draft picks

Approve. Wow great trade boys. I like Sharife's talent and think he'll get an opportunity somewhere someday and be a scorer in here. Those picks are a nice addition and maybe Kings can flip Ibaka down road.
RoCo has been eating recently and I think this is a really nice move from Royce as well to keep the winning mentality alive. Justin Holiday should also have plenty of opportunity with talent about to move out of Indiana. Best of all he gets off Ibaka's salary.

Approve.
I'm enjoying the aggressive moves by Royce over the last few weeks. Only concern with both Holiday and Covington is they're prime trade candidates on teams potentially looking to tank, which could hurt their production & availability during our playoffs. Either way, getting that level of production & moving off of Ibaka's contract is a big win.
This move makes all kinds of sense for Sacramento. Not planning to re-sign either player, move them for assets. Kings has quietly restocked his draft cabinet with a handful of 2nd rounders that could look really nice over the next few years. I'm not incredibly high on Sharife Cooper, but I see no reason why he couldn't have an Ish Smith-type floor at some point down the road.

Love the trade boys but I’m not sure I’m cool with the fantasy points contingencies.
I think I’m cool with it in this scenario because the trade deadline closes in a week so Royce can’t really even move one of those but moving forward no fantasy point contingencies.
A multitude of problems can arise from stipulations like this.

A multitude of problems can arise from stipulations like this. I am going to echo what Caleb is saying here, the trade is decent enough but the fantasy point contingency is a rabbit hole waiting to happen. Except instead of Wonderland it's just a shithole. And it isn't the kind Chuck likes. The amount of conditional picks that would get slung and stipulations would likely be too much to keep track of over the long haul, and suddenly you only get a second round pick for a surefire asset like 2 years ago when I traded Hayward but he got injured a week later. Like I just gave up 35+ fantasy points under contract for two years but because the stipulation says "must average X points and play minimum of 10 games" suddenly I get hosed, and maybe it stops me from doing the deal! Just drawing off that example from recent memory but agreed it isn't the biggest deal here, I just don't think it's necessary and will make things slippery going forward.

Robert Covington - 9 GP, 197.5 points, 21.9 FPG Justin Holiday - 9 GP, 168 points, 18.67 FPG 1st does not convey to Sacramento, Sacramento keeps 2022 HOU 2nd
