Nets Trade: Deron Williams $9M (2016) Zhou Qi
Jazz Trade: Dirk Nowitzki $24.1M (2017) Norman Powell 0.87M (2017)
Not something i enjoy doing but im gonna have to move one step back to move 2 steps forward with this cap situation.

I get my boy Norman Powell back and only have to take on Dirk's massive contract for a couple years. I'm not sure if Qi is going to be anything in this league, but him along with DWill are nice cap savers for TJ.
I accept.

So Nets went from being 2 years away to 2 years away from being 2 years away cause Dirk is dead weight. Great deal for TJ as he has lots of flexibility now and neither of those guys were helping him so far.

For the record:
D-Will is an UFA next year Zhou Qi is still in CBA, unknown salary on international roster Dirk has a $25M TO for next year (he's also at $25M this year, not 24.1, that need to be changed), which may very well not be picked up in light of his playing time/production and Dallas' general overall shittiness Powell has a $1,014,746 TO for next year, which will almost certainly be picked up
In light of these facts, I respectfully disagree with Mavs and like this trade for Nets, as Powell is the only real asset (even if he is a bit of a ?, Nets likes him and he has shown potential). TJ gets Qi, who is interesting but I for one doubt he will ever do well in the NBA, and D-Will, who has been great for the last 2 weeks or so, but in all likelihood will be injured/sidelined during our playoffs even if his production doesn't fall back off the cliff he's perpetually trying to climb. For me, D-Will and Dirk have about equal value, and Powel>>>>>Qi.
Let us also remember that TJ traded a 1st round pick for Powell, so in simplified terms this is a 1st round pick for whatever the fuck D-Will is able to put up this year, and whatever the fuck Qi is able to put up ever, plus Nets gets the bonus of whatever the fuck Dirk can put up this year. On the other hand, if Dallas does pick up Dirk's option (they're just about that stupid, they might), this is a perfect example of a low-end team (essentially) agreeing to take on a huge future cap hit for the possibility of a player developing, which is terrible, and in which case Mavs would be 110% right.
It is very beneficial for TJ in terms of immediate cap availability, though, which seems to be what he was going for.
