Blazers Receive: Darius Garland (7.04, 8.92, RFA) Oklahoma City Thunder 2021 2nd Round Pick New Orleans Pelicans 2021 2nd Round Pick
Pelicans Receive: CJ McCollum (13.61, 19.61, 19.61, 19.61, 19.61, UFA)--$6m covered in '21 from Blazers Sacramento Kings 2022 1st Round Pick
I accept.
This came down to being realistic about CJ. He's been a career 27 ftpts/gm player in our scoring and turns 30 before the season starts. His production and salary figure makes more sense for a team like the Pelicans that is a title contender.
For me, Garland slides in as another young piece of my growing core. Getting to team him up with Maxey, Coby, THT and Claxton in the coming years was super enticing. He does come with a few injury concerns, but it's difficult to deny his large jump in production from Year 1 to Year 2. Really think he has All-Star potential in the East in a couple years.
It was a long process, but I'm happy we were able to come to a middle ground. Good luck this year, Pels.

I accept. I think there’s a chance garland or sexton get shipped this year with Cleveland’s high pick. While garland has a lot of upside I wanted more points now and that’s what cj gives me. I didn’t have roster spots for the 2nds this year and I like kings pick next year. He has no cap left and no real draft assets so I like the upside to that. Didn’t know who I could get for $9M this year who wouldn’t be a sure thing and still have some assets I can deal if needed.

Like it for both sides. Johnny gets probably better production this year while adding on a pick. Tyler maybe loses in the value area but I love the swing for the fences on a potential franchise corner stone guard.
