UFA Bidding System

To sign an UFA, first post the players name, position, AND current team in the designated section along with your bid. This player will now be open to bidding from any owner. Bids are flat annual salary figures, therefore you cannot backload or frontload a salary. There will not be a limit in UNRESTRICTED free agency on how many times a team can place a bid, however, a bid cannot be rescinded. A bid must stand without being challenged for 24 hours before a free agent is won. INVALID BIDS WILL BE VOIDED AND DO NOT COUNT AGAINST THE CLOCK. (Up to commish discretion in special circumstances)


If the winning bid for a player is invalid and no one has pointed it out by the time 24 hours has passed, the bidding time for the player will be extended an hour from the time someone posts that the bid is invalid. So if TATUM is won at 2:00 PM and I post at 3:00 PM that the winning bid was invalid, he is allowed to be bid on until 4:00 PM (bids still need to stand for 24 hours).


Max number of years for a bid is 5 years.
Bids must up the previous bid points by at least 0.1 points.
Expiring contracts cannot be traded once playoffs start. 
Retiring players are free drops. 
If you are dropping a player in a bid you must list the player.
Id you drop a player 10 mill or more you may not bid on him again until he switches teams.

Contract years add value based on the following: $1M = 1 point

1 YR = 1X multiplier ---- 1YR/$5M = 5 X 1 = 5 pts
2 YR = 1.20X multiplier ---- 2YR/$5M = 5 X 1.20 = 6 pts
3 YR = 1.40X mulitplier ---- 3YR/$5M = 5 X 1.40 = 7 pts
4 YR = 1.60X multiplier ---- 4YR/$5M = 5 X 1.6 = 8 pts
5 YR = 1.80X multiplier ---- 4YR/$5M = 5 X 1.8 = 9 pts

More Examples:

---- 1YR/$1M = 1 x 1 = 1 pt
---- 3YR/$1M = 1 X 1.4= 1.4 pts
---- 3YR/$1.3M = 1.3 X 1.4 = 2.2pts


Invalid Bids are bids that have a wrong # of years, have the wrong point total, put the team over cap, put the team over the roster max. 


The MAX someone can bid on a player for a 1-2 year contract is $9.99M, anything from $10M+ must be for a minimum of 3 years.





Here is an example of some valid/invalid bids..



1 year/$13.5M - INVALID
1 year/$9.75M - VALID

2 years/$25M - INVALID
2 years/$9.75M - VALID

3 years/$22M - VALID
3 years/$27M - -VALID


IMPORTANT: YOU MAY NOT PLACE A BID ON A PLAYER IF YOU DO NOT HAVE THE CAP TO TAKE IN HIS CONTRACT. YOU MAY NOT PLACE A BID WHILE ANTICIPATING A PLAYER RELEASE OR TRADE (UNLESS ITS POSTED BEFORE). IF YOU DON'T HAVE THE CAP, DO NOT MAKE THE BID PERIOD. CAP SPACE THAT YOU HAVE ACQUIRED VIA TRADE DOES NOT BECOME AVAILABLE UNTIL THE TRADE HAS BEEN APPROVED. (Or 24 hours has passed in case TAB is being slow)



If you drop a player you must pay 50% of his contract the rest of that year, and 25% the following year.


Each team is allowed one resign per off-season. In order to resign a player you must pay him whatever he averaged fantasy points wise X (.60). If a player did not play at least 15 games he will cost what he averaged the previous season. This way only guys you really want to keep will be resigned and free agency is competitive. A resign can be anywhere from 1-5 years and of course if the player is over 9 mill he must be signed for at least three years.


Qualifying Offers- For players with QO's they will either be resigned or they will be bid on in a silent auction and the owner will be given a choice rather to match the offer given in the silent auction or let his player walk. Matching this offer does NOT count as a resign.


Players signed for more than 10 mill or more must be signed for 3 years or longer.


Eventually all players will be on contracts from in here, but as we take real life contracts at the start of the league here are what the certain options mean.

Player Options must be picked up by the end of the NBA playoffs of the season before, if not they are a FA. (They will be FA 99% of the time)

Early Termination will be free agents.

Team Options can be picked up by the team, but the deadline is right before we transition into the off-season period, which is when the NBA playoffs end.

Non Guaranteed similar to team options. You must choose to either guarantee this money or let the player walk. Must let player know by end of NBA playoffs.


In BasketballDynasty25 we allowed players to take on the real life contracts if they re-signed. That will no longer be carried out as we are trying to create our own league and contracts.


Restricted free agent rights cannot be traded.


If a player does not receive a restricted free agent offer they will play out a one year tender at their fantasy points X .5

Addendum to the FA rules regarding drops-

- Absolutely no editing FA posts going forward.
- If you need to clarify because you made a spelling mistake, please make another post.
- You can only change your drop when circumstances change (Ex: 2 bids out and 2 drops are out, you get outbid on 1, you can then change your drop on the bid you still have leading with the other player you were going to drop) (Another ex: You make a trade and have a new bum you’d like to kick out) Basically any time the circumstances on your roster have changed within the 24 hr clock, you can update your drop. We want to avoid someone posting a drop and then just changing because they feel like it.
- If you need to update your drop because circumstances have changed, please make another post.
- No either or drops. (Ex: Drop Player A or Drop Player B). Must pick one when you bid.

- Points must be in the bid

These rules are effective in Free Agency beginning 7/13/2022 officially.

Starting in 2024 (next year), teams can resign players 1 year before their contract expires. If you are opting to resign a player 1 year before their contract expires, the rate will be 0.75 x fantasy points. You still can only resign / extend one player per year. The rate to resign a player once their contract expires remains 0.6 x fantasy points.
