This is the official Summer Meetings suggestion thread. I will be putting up a couple different threads that I feel are worth some discussion, but if you want to bring something up just leave a post here, and I will then create a separate thread for it if I deem it worth something to discuss.

Heat is right, although I say keep it in the state. At the beginning of this whole thing I wanted to be the Saskatchewan Seal Clubbers (or the Raptors if I had to stay with the team name).

Perkins doesn't fly his guys to games, he uses the Fung-wah buses to save time and money. (If you haven't heard of that shit google it, talk about risk/reward)

What do you guys think about increasing the roster size. Maybe 14 players instead of 12 might be interesting?

I wouldn't be opposed but we have awhile done 12 and there were so many teams already with players that never saw that court

I would veto it, I would have been able to draft differently in the last few rounds. I wouldn't be opposed to maybe opening up the roster to 14 spots next year?

Personally don't really like this idea, the FA pool is thin enough as it is, this would leave literally no one even slightly useful to pick up when there's an injury, etc. Also, I think the way the draft lost steam towards the end is a good indication of how many players most owners are interested in; there were only a handful of us left who would've continued drafting.

@raptors what I meant would obviously would only start from next year on. Where everybody would have some time to prepare their roster for the changes

How about we make it a bit more realistic in the offseason. We could do something like "training camps" with extended rosters with certain deadlines to get down to premliminary roster. Would give us the chance to wait for the summer league und preseason before we decide who to cut and which rookies to keep for example.
Maybe something like this:
After Finals are played everybody is allowed to have 20 roster spots.
After the Draft roster is cut to 18.
After Summer League roster has to be down to 15
After Preseason rosters have to be down to 12.
Maybe Summer Contracts and Camp Invites without pay could be a thing to keep everything logical in terms of salary cap.
Also. How about introducing 10-Day Contracts once the regular season started? Would add another element of strategy and diversity to the league. (Especially to compensate for injuries)

I don't know if I'm on board from the start, but I chalk that up to never having done a league like this. I do sort of like those ideas though, creative at least.

It does seem a bit more complicated than necessary, and 20 is way too many, but I like the theory of expanded off-season rosters, and 10-day contracts are a great idea.

I'm all for it, but 20 is a bit much. And most teams won't take advantage of having all these extra spots cause of laziness/lack of players actually worth it. I like the summer league roster idea at least to start. We can work our way up if we feel it's advantageous to the league. 15 for SL, cut to 12.

one quick suggestion. What do you guys think of 1 free drop per off season or something like it? Maybe a drop with less cap hit or something. Could be interesting but i dont know what you guys think of it

i.e. an amnesty provision? I think one every offseason is a bit too many though.

We did that before the league was born again and I liked it a lot. One amnesty for the duration of the league is what id be for, but I def think one every season would be way too many

We did it before because that's what league did after lock out. I kinda like the idea, but then i could see FA going crazy. That's 30 free drops, and a player going for like 25 mill right before the playoffs or something like that would be too much.

For the record, I don't like the idea of recurring amnesty provision, makes it too easy for people to justify outrageous FA bids... everyone remember the $55M Chuck Hayes contract?
I know I'm only addressing this because of my current roster issues, but it seems silly to only have one IR spot in a dynasty league... How would y'all feel about increasing that? 2 seems reasonable, 3 even seems like it should be in the discussion. Pretty silly for me to be wasting an active roster spot on an injured Delon Wright because I can't put him on D-League until he actually plays a game there, and I can envision various other scenarios where people could end up in a similar situation. At least one additional IR spot could only encourage activity and FA bidding.
