The Miami Heat trade:
PG Trey Burke, NYK 8 8 8 UFA
Covering 75% of 2018 salary (6M)
Covering 15% of 2019 salary (1.2M)
The Dallas Mavericks trade:
2019 1st (Tor)
SG Tyler Dorsey, ATL 1.38 RFA
I love how the youngins on my team are performing, but I have no depth so I still want to aim to compete the next two years,, instead of start wasting assets this year.

Pass. Wow, what a deal for heat, making us all look foolish for talking shit on Burke... Now he gets a first for a small amount of cash, nicely done. I get it for mavs too, but i don't know if there's any hope of competing with pels.

Pass, Burke is under contract for a few years and on a bad team can be fantasy relevant so I'll slightly disagree with Spurs. I do like the deal for the Heat but fair trade.

Didn't mean that it was a bad deal for mavs, just that heat took a FA pickup and turned it into a first rounder, by next year it'll essentially be a first round pick for about $1M cash. That's tough to do, and a fantastic return on investment. Plus he gets the chance to keep Dorsey if he wants, which reminds me of a question I've been meaning to ask wars... If you have a RFA, don't resign him, and then no one bids on him, what happens? Do you have the option to resign him at minimum contract, or do you have to pay the FPPG x 0.6M price if you wanna keep him? You don't lose him for nothing, do you? Sent from my Pixel using proboards

Sent from my Pixel using proboards What has been the rule so far, is you keep him and he plays the year out on a one year tender at his re-sign price. Reasoning being if you don't like him enough to lock him up long term you shouldn't get basically another re-sign. But a lot of people don't like it understandably so, so we're looking into a rule change regarding that. Also, I approve.

Personally i think you should just get the chance to resign him to a minimum contract at that point, it's really not any different than someone putting in a minimum bid and no one else responding or raising the bid; if no one else in the league even wants him, why not? Getting them on the resign price seems like the least that could be done. Also, it's not necessarily that you don't like him enough to resign, more often is that you're essentially forced to resign the most valuable guy you have on an expiring, and don't have the option of resigning lesser known dudes. It's not like we're talking about exciting impact players to put back in the FA pool and make a difference for someone, after all... Anyway, that's my two cents. Sent from my Pixel using proboards
