Trying to add more content to the 2018 season to spice things up and add more debate.
FPG = Fantasy Points Per Game
*I've noticed that the FPG is ~0.1 points off their actual average, so consider it an approximate calculation*
Zach Lavine - 20.2 FPG - 4 years / $14,560,000 = $58,240,000 (Pistons)
C-Lavine can ball, but that's a lot of money for a guy who will now have to share touches with Wendell Carter Jr and Jabari Parker. He will be hard-pressed to improve on his performance unless he suddenly becomes a plus playmaker. With this deal, Detroit is already paying him like he is one. He's still young (23) and will be one more year removed from ACL surgery, but this will be a big year for him to prove he's more than an inefficient scorer. If he can't, 20-23 FPG is likely his ceiling.
Dante Exum - 13.4 FPG - 3 years / $12,000,000 = $36,000,000 (Lakers)
FWhat??? I don't get it, but the Jazz also threw some questionable money at Exum. He's missed 162 games in his 4 year career and has lost minutes every year. You'd hope he can improve to get closer to 20 FPG, but even then this contract would be barely better than what Lavine got. As it stands, it looks like this will be one of the worst contracts of the off-season.
Kyle Anderson - 22.7 - 3 years / $12,000,000 = $36,000,000 (Nuggets)
A-Anderson is an absolute bargain at this price, especially when you compare it to what Exum got. There's moderate risk here that Anderson is a system player and will struggle in Memphis, but they signed him for a reason and he should have a great chance to produce as a playmaker. I see him with a floor of 25 FPG this year and he should have multiple position eligibility. The rich get richer here for the defending champs.
Marcus Smart - 19.9 - 3 years / $8,500,000 = $25,500,000 (Raptors)
B+ I would have given this deal an A if not for Smart missing an average of about 20 games a season. It's a very smart resign by Toronto and Smart's PG/SG dual eligibility makes him even more valuable. It would be interesting to see if moving teams would help him, but it will always be his defensive stats carrying him.
Wade Baldwin - 5 years / $2,000,000 = $10,000,000 (Nets)
