Ohhhhh I see. So if you drop someone who is on an expiring deal, you don't have a cap hit the year after?

Ohhhhh I see. So if you drop someone who is on an expiring deal, you don't have a cap hit the year after? According to a private message conversation i had with wars before the season started, this is inaccurate... Suppose he'll have to weigh in and clarify, but my understanding was that you'd still have to pay 25% next year in a situation like this. Sent from my Pixel using proboards

I'm confused. when dropping a player you pay 50% of his deal that year and 25% of his deal the next. So let's go through different hypothetical players.
Player A is dropped making 10 mill that year and 10 mill the next. The owner pays 5 mill that year and 2.5 mill the next.
Player B is making 6 Mill that year and 100 mill next year. Owner pays 3 mill and then 25 mill
Player C is making 10 mill one year and nothing the next. He will cost 5 mill for one year.
So if Baynes was only under contract for that year then yes he should only be paying for that one year
